Egg White Wraps Recipe – 3 Ways to Make Them

How to Make Zero Carb Tortillas and Wraps

Do you want low-carb, Keto friendly no-flour tortillas that you can use for sandwiches, crepes or quesadillas? Below are 3 easy egg white wraps recipes that you can use to make them yourself.

Switch out high carb breads for low or zero carb wraps that also are high in protein. Plus, you can save money by making them yourself.

Furthermore, you can make them in large batches and freeze them. Save time and have high protein tortillas on hand whenever you want a sandwich wrap, taco, crepe, pizza, etc..

1. My Favorite Egg White Wraps Recipe:

This no-carb wrap is made of egg white protein powder, gelatin, water and salt. Plus, you can add whatever seasonings or flavors that you want. The video clip from Indigo Nili below shows how to make it, and you can find more of her egg white bread recipes on her blog. Watch it here:

The gelatin is a great substitute for other fibers (ie. psyllium husk) or gums (ie. xanthan gum or guar gum) that may not agree with your stomach. Plus, it makes your wraps more pliable and easy to work with. (I like the texture so much, that I even add gelatin to my egg white breads.)

Note: The ingredients in these egg white wraps can get sticky when you’re making them. So, I suggest using a non-stick griddle or crepe pan (no teflon) or making sure you add a little extra oil to your cooking pan.

2. Low Carb Wraps with Eggs Whites & Almond Flour:

Second, you can combine egg whites with almond flour if you prefer a more bread-like texture. You can find this recipe on The Protein Chef website.

The ingredients are really simple: basically use 1 tablespoon of almond flour for every 3 tablespoons of egg whites. Then, cook the wraps about 1-2 minutes per side in a skillet or pan.

3. 1-Ingredient Egg Wraps:

Finally, you can make egg wraps with just egg whites (or whole eggs). Megan shares her simple healthy recipe on her website DonutWorryBeHealthy.com.

Although this tortilla alternative is nothing fancy, you don’t have to buy any special ingredients. It can be a good option if all you have is eggs.

Alternatively, you can buy egg wraps online. Although they cost more, you can buy them in bulk, freeze them and have them on hand for a quick meal when you need them.

Egglife makes wraps from cage free. They don’t have any grains, gluten, dairy, sugar or soy, plus they are both Keto and Paleo friendly. In addition, you can get them in 4 different flavors: original, Italian, rye or Southwest.

Ingredients include egg whites, xanthan gum, salt, natural flavor and nisin (a natural preservative).

The Egglife website also offers some great recipe ideas for how to use your wraps (homemade or store-bought). For example, you can turn them into mini pizzas, pudding crepes, bruschetta, paninis and tacos just to name a few.

Tips for Serving and Storing Homemade Egg White Wraps:

After crafting your delectable egg white wraps, here are some expert tips on serving and storing them:

  1. Serving Suggestions:
    • Enjoy your egg white wraps warm or at room temperature.
    • Cut the wraps into bite-sized pieces or keep them whole for a more substantial dish.
    • Garnish with fresh herbs like cilantro or parsley for a burst of color and flavor.
    • Pair with sides like salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.
  2. Proper Storage:
    • Store leftover egg white wraps in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
    • Freshness can be maintained for up to 3-4 days without compromising taste or texture.
    • Prevent sticking by layering parchment paper between each wrap before stacking in the container.
  3. Reheating Tips:
    • Microwave refrigerated egg white wraps on high for 15-20 seconds until warmed through.
    • Alternatively, heat them on the surface of a fry pan.

Now that you know how to serve and store your homemade egg white wraps, you can enjoy them anytime!

Taking Your Wraps to the Next Level:

Now that you’ve mastered the basics, here are some exciting ideas to elevate your egg white wrap game:

  • Experiment with different fillings such as smoked salmon or grilled chicken breast for variety.
  • Add herbs or spices directly into the batter before cooking to enhance the flavor profile.
  • For a softer texture, slightly undercook wraps so they remain moist when rolled up.
  • Prep ahead by making batches of wraps stored in the fridge for up to three days.

With these tips, you can take your egg white wraps to new heights and enjoy a variety of flavors!
